Artist Statement

Contrasts in temperature, materials, and methods, ideas and attitudes, are the focus of my acrylic on canvas painted quilts. I create spatial ambiguities that put the viewer in different places at the same time -- inside and outside, awake and dreaming. I draw upon my own everyday experiences for imagery. The last steps in the process, hand quilting and embroidery, allow me to become physically reacquainted with a piece created at arm's length on the wall, and to add another visual dimension to it.
